Transmission

Mission critical content. SGL FlashNet makes sure that it's where you need it, when you need it.

Transmission Transmission is probably the most critical stage of the entire broadcast process, and having your material available for playout when it is required is beyond essential. That means that all of your equipment has to be perfectly in sync, moving content from a variety of storage locations to transmission servers, under the guidance of various control systems, conforming to command sets and prioritisation specifications that may be issued from a number of sources. It's a lot to have to think about. Fortunately, SGL FlashNet takes care of everything for you. SGL FlashNet is the most comprehensively integrated content storage management system available, closely integrated at application levels with all of the major industry vendors to provide an Open system that manages content of every format under the control of MAM and Automation systems from all of the leading suppliers.

Any server, any format

SGL FlashNet is format-agnostic, and handles any content you want to use, from a wide range of server platforms, from generic IT storage to specific proprietary broadcast formats, such as Omneon or Grass Valley K2. SGL's close relationships with server vendors means that specific connectivity requirements are included as standard, and are fully tested and certified by both SGL and vendors themselves. Even if you have a range of server types from multiple vendors, all you need to manage the content storage and distribution between them is SGL FlashNet.

Always on, alway in sync

Always on, always in sync SGL FlashNet's unique clustered architecture provides the higest levels of reliability in broadcast content archive management. Automatic failover and multi-component health checking is standard in SGL FlashNet clusters, which means that your material will always be where you need it when you need it, 24x7x365. You won't get any blinking red lights, and no nasty surprises. In addition, SGL's integration with playout server vendors means that metadata is captured and synchronized through all stages of material life cycle, so you'll never lose valuable clip details, keywords or other important information.

Prioritisation

SGL FlashNet features built-in prioritisation, which syncs with control systems via SGL's industry-standard Application Programming Interface (API). When you need to restore High Priority content from an archive layer for playout, the priority level is passed from the controlling system to SGL FlashNet and is executed before other restore or archive jobs. Multiple concurrent connections from several systems are also possible, allowing multiple jobs to be passed to the SGL FlashNet queue from MAM, Automation or any other control systems for simultaneous execution by the SGL FlashNet cluster.

"The functionality and performance benefits of FlashNet are unmatched by any other archive management provider."
