AIT4 drives and media are supported by FlashNet, AS LONG AS THE CORRECT FIRMWARE IS USED. FlashNet will support firmware Revision 0102_0008 and above.
Earlier firmware revisions are NOT supported.

In addition, before choosing AIT4 drives you should be aware of issues with AIT4 drives and previous incarnation of AIT media.

According to Sony, AIT4 does not support reading or writing of previous AIT generation media, e.g. AIT3 or AIT2. Therefore if you already have pre-AIT4 drives and media, you will not be able to read from or write to the media using AIT4 drives.

At the time of writing, Sony has indicated that AIT4 will not be capable of reading from or writing to previous generation media for the foreseeable future.

Sony indicate that the next generation of AIT (presumably AIT5) will be backward compatible with all previous generations, though this is merely an indication and should not be taken as a definitive statement.
