RTM selects SGL FlashNet as key part of major digital upgrade project in Malaysia BroadcastAsia,
Singapore Software Generation Limited, a leading provider of digital video storage/archive management software, has announced that Malaysian Government broadcaster, Radio TV Malaysia (RTM), has selected SGL FlashNet as part of its major digital upgrade project. SGL, one of a number of key industry players involved in the project including Avid, Blue Order, Harris, Hitachi, Omneon, Snell & Wilcox and StorageTek, will provide the glue between the Media Asset Management system and the ingest and automation solution, moving material between the online storage on the video servers to the online disk storage and then across to the tape library under the control of Harris applications. RTM, based in Kuala Lumpur, currently runs two television channels (RTM1 and RTM2) and eight national, 16 state and eight district radio stations. RTM1 (The Inforia Channel), the first and oldest television channel in Malaysia, offers educational programmes and local information in Malay with news bulletins in several languages including Malay, Chinese and Tamil. RTM2 (The Family Channel) provides an important link between the government and society through its current affairs reporting as well as news of government policies and developmental efforts. Bernie Walsh, SGL Sales and Marketing Director, commented: "We are delighted to have been chosen again by RTM as part of this project. SGL has been involved in a number of high profile installations in the region and continues to be the archive of choice for broadcasters." ### Software Generation Limited is a privately held archive management software company headquartered in Southampton, England. SGL has been in business since 1989 and its flagship FlashNet product is installed in over 4500 customer sites around the world. More information can be found at www.sgluk.com. |
