SGL announces 3 new key personnel - further enhancing market commitment Southampton,
UK Software Generation Limited, a leading provider of digital video storage/archive management software, has today announced two new key personnel to its european sales team and a Technical Specialist, further enhancing the company's commitment to its strong European customer base. David Abel, previously Regional Sales Manager EMEA with OmniBus Systems, joins SGL as European Sales Manager. With more than 20 years of sales experience in the broadcast industry. Abel has successfully developed and implemented product and sales strategies in global market places. Prior to joining OmniBus, Abel held key sales positions at Tektronix, Advanced Audio Visual Systems France and Megasat UK. In his role at SGL, Abel will be responsible for EMEA sales and business development for SGL FlashNet, the industry's leading digital video storage/archive management software. "I am delighted to join SGL at this exciting time as more and more broadcasters adopt digital storage systems. SGL FlashNet is an extremely sound product that is well respected in the industry and I am looking forward to extending its appeal in a number of new markets," explained Abel. Thomas Geppert, newly appointed Regional Sales Manager Germany, Austria and Switzerland, joins SGL from digitX, an independent sales agency for high performance computing products and storage systems. Geppert began his career in the broadcast industry in 1995 as a Junior Systems engineer at Silicon Graphics (SGI), Germany following his PhD at Johann Wolfgang Goethe - Universität in Frankfurt. In 2000, after a number of promotions at SGI, Geppert joined EMC2 Computer Systems Business Development in the Media Solutions Group as Senior Solutions Architect. He then went on to become Business Alliances Manager at Hyperwave and Director EMEA Data Direct Networks. "SGL FlashNet is an integral part of the whole media asset management solution and has been adopted by many of the leading video server, automation, NLE and asset management vendors worldwide. as such I am looking forward to boosting SGL's profile in German-speaking countries,: added Geppert. Tom Evans joins SGL from Technicolor UK as Technical specialist for SGL FlashNet. Evans, who joined Technicolor in 2002 as Head of Archiving, moved on to become Channel & Department Supervisor, Fox Kids europe where he was responsible for the implementation and co-ordination of the Media Management (MMR) arm of Fox Kids' tapeless re-launch. He most recently held the position of Project Management Assistant, The Disney Channel Scandinavia where he assisted with key policy and strategy decisions in the development of technicolor's flagship UK tapeless transmission operation.
