SGL and InPhase announce compatibility plans

NAB, Las Vegas
24th April 2006

Software Generation Ltd (SGL) booth SL1513V and InPhase Technologies (Maxell booth C6932) today announced plans for compatibility between the InPhase Tapestry™ holographic drives and SGL’s FlashNet Archive Manager.
Scheduled for late 2006 release, and utilizing the power and flexibility of SGL FlashNet, InPhase will be the first company to deliver a holographic data storage product for professional archive applications. The media for this product will be offered through strategic partner Hitachi Maxell Ltd., with the initial InPhase Tapestry holographic device capable of recording 300 gigabytes (GB) of data onto a 130mm disc with a transfer rate of 20 megabytes per second (MB/s).

SGL specialises in archive management for the broadcast video industry and partners with world-leading organisations such as Avid Technology and Thomson Grass Valley, who incorporate SGL FlashNet into their products on an OEM basis.

“We believe holographic storage will have a big impact on the broadcast industry and with SGL’s experience and reputation in this field, they were an obvious partner for InPhase,” explained Liz Murphy, VP of Marketing, InPhase. She continued: “In working with SGL we are confident of providing long-term video archives for top broadcasters worldwide.”

Steve Atkinson, VP Americas for SGL added: “SGL’s customer base is extensive, and we are always listening and reacting to market and customer demands. The InPhase announcement continues SGL’s philosophy of partnering with the best and we are looking forward to seeing the market embrace this technology.”
