New Mexico's PBS trio select SGL for Public Television Digital Conversion Project

Fareham, UK
10th March 2008

Software Generation Limited (SGL), a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, has been selected by PBS station, KNME-TV as a major part of the network's New Mexico Public Television Digital Conversion Project. The SGL FlashNet installation was carried out by SGL's US partner, CUC Systems.

KNME-TV, based at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, is the oldest of a trio of PBS stations in the region using SGL FlashNet for its digital archive. The other stations are KENW (Eastern New Mexico University) in Portales, and KRWG (New Mexico State University) in Las Cruces.

The KNME-TV project sees FlashNet, SGL's flagship content storage and archive management software, integrated with Sundance Digital's automation system. Jim Gale, Director of Engineering, KNME-TV commented, "SGL FlashNet works flawlessly and is a very fine piece of software. It allows seamless integration to the Sundance Digital automation system providing KNME-TV with a fully scalable digital archive with high levels of redundancy."

Mickey Charles, SGL's VP Americas added, "We are delighted to announce this sale to KNME-TV. This installation further highlights SGL's commitment to the PBS market. Integration, strong business benefits, system expansion and low cost of ownership are the focal issues for broadcasters and these points are integral to this installation."
