SGL announces strategic agreement with Grass Valley to sell FlashNet Southampton,
UK. SGL has announced a strategic partnership with Grass Valley, whereby the major broadcast provider (a member of the Thomson group of companies) will sell SGL FlashNet as part of an archive system package. This agreement principally addresses large Profile® Media Platform installations and customers using the Grass Valley NewsBrowse® browsing and editing system. With SGL FlashNet as an integral part of the archive system package, Profile customers have the ability to extend the storage of their system to tens of thousands of hours of storage. NewsBrowse customers will be able to save footage for decades, and leverage archive-specific features such as the ability to browse archive footage at low-resolution and restore only the portion of the footage needed for editing. "The agreement with Grass Valley formalises the excellent working relationship we have with them," said Steve Atkinson, VP-Americas for SGL. "In particular, the NewsBrowse system installations we have done with the them have demonstrated that Grass Valley has unmatched tools for archive with their ability to view and manager archive material." As part of the agreement the system will be available to Grass Valley customers in North America and will cover both sales and after-market support.
