Amsterdam, IBC, Stand 8.B28c – 11th September 2009 – Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, is today demonstrating its FlashBrowse II web tool and XML interface at IBC 2009, further enhancing its FlashNet archive portfolio.
FlashBrowse II:
Not all archive solutions have to be large enterprise wide systems. In some cases a simple, lightweight manual tool is enough to search and restore content from the archive. Enter FlashBrowse II, a thin client-based web tool with powerful attributes that allows FlashNet users to capture simple metadata, and to archive and restore media from many different forms of archive. Web browser based, FlashBrowse II can be used on any platform - Mac, PC or Linux.
Content can be pushed to the FlashNet archive automatically using a third-party system (such as a media asset management or automation), or in the case of more cost-effective systems, the archive process can be user driven directly from FlashBrowse II. Using the manual archive process the user can search any number of broadcast video servers for content. This can then be tagged and archived by FlashNet. The process is no more complex than a couple of mouse clicks; simply identify the material and click the archive button. FlashNet does the rest.
XML Interface for FlashNet:
The XML interface for FlashNet further expands the control functionality between third-party systems - such as media asset management and automation – and FlashNet by providing a flexible solution that can simply be adapted to suit the requirements of the customer. XML simplifies data delivery procedures, lightens bandwidth and thereby improves ROI.
Bernie Walsh, SGL’s Worldwide Sales & Joint Managing Director comments, “SGL is delighted to showcase its open system philosophy at IBC, facilitating highly efficient workflows by allowing broadcasters to maximise their assets and get the most from their archive. The current economic climate means that now more than ever broadcasters need to squeeze every ounce of revenue from their content and a FlashNet-driven archive can help to achieve this, and much more.”
FlashNet, SGL’s flagship solution provides content storage and archive management software based around a clustered architecture that scales to fit any organisation, from the largest networks to the smallest broadcaster. FlashNet's high levels of redundancy and unrivalled data transfer capability fit seamlessly into any environment, regardless of existing architecture.
