Amsterdam, IBC, Stand 8.B28c – 11th September 2009 – Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, is today announcing a tight integration between FlashNet, SGL’s flagship storage archive software and Final Cut Server (FCS), Apple’s media asset management solution for Final Cut Pro.
By adding SGL’s archive solution to the Final Cut Server environment, post production facilities and broadcasters will significantly improve and speed up their workflows by managing the available free space on shared storage that is traditionally reserved for ‘work in progress’.
All of the archive related actions can be performed directly from the Final Cut Server user interface on the editors own desktops. Assets, projects and productions can be archived to the SGL FlashNet content management system. Due to the fact that FCS creates low resolution proxy files as representations of the original content, these proxies are kept in place and used as ‘pointers’ to any archived high resolution content, making it extremely easy for users to find and restore material from the archive.
Using the advanced features of the FlashNet architecture this solution can expand along with any storage increases or increased user demand.
Bernie Walsh, SGL’s Worldwide Sales & Joint Managing Director comments, “This tight integration with Final Cut Server allows individual FCP users or system administrators to free up valuable space within the FCS environment thereby improving workflow and speed. We are delighted to unveil this integration at IBC today and look forward to announcing major customers in the near future. ”
FlashNet, SGL’s flagship solution provides content storage and archive management software based around a clustered architecture that scales to fit any organisation, from the largest networks to the smallest broadcaster. FlashNet's high levels of redundancy and unrivalled data transfer capability fit seamlessly into any environment, regardless of existing architecture.
